Choose a training ball by the movement first, then the weight. Medicine balls, slam balls and dead balls have different handling and intended uses. Check the individual listing before selecting a ball for throwing, slamming, carrying or floor-based exercises.
Match the ball to the exercise
The heaviest option is not automatically the most useful. Consider how you will pick it up, control it through the movement and put it down.
- For wall-ball-style training, review the medicine ball’s intended use and dimensions.
- For slams, confirm that the chosen product is intended for that impact.
- For dead-ball lifts or carries, compare weight and grip with your planned movement.
Check the training environment
Allow clear space around the station and use the surface specified for the ball. Different products can behave differently on impact; never assume a medicine ball and a slam ball are interchangeable. Store balls so they cannot roll into a lifting or walking area.
