Boxing buying guide
Choose boxing equipment around the way you train: solo bag sessions, partner pad work or a mix of both. This collection includes Counterpunch curved focus pads, a free standing boxing bag and a heavyweight bag, so plan the type of session and the space around it before choosing.
Choose a setup that matches the session
Focus pads are for partner training, so the holder’s fit and the pad shape matter as much as the person punching. A bag is its own station with its own space requirements. Decide where it will live before choosing between free standing and hanging formats.
- For a free standing bag, confirm the base dimensions, filling instructions and required clearance
- For a hanging bag, confirm a suitable structural mounting point and the included hardware
- For focus pads, look at hand access, straps and the striking surface
Give footwork enough room
Measure the whole practice area, including the space around the bag rather than only its footprint. A hanging bag may move during use; a free standing design still needs a suitable floor and room around its base. Consider how other people pass through the room. Read the individual product’s setup and care instructions, and choose personal training equipment separately where it is not included.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose a free standing or hanging boxing bag?
A free standing design avoids a hanging installation, but needs space for its base. A hanging bag requires a suitable support. Compare the installation requirements and usable room around each option before deciding.
Can focus pads replace a boxing bag?
They serve different session formats. Focus pads are held by a training partner, while a bag provides a separate target station. Choose according to whether your usual sessions involve a partner.
