Slam/Dead Balls
Slam/Dead Balls buying guide
Our slam and dead ball range runs from 4kg to 65kg. These balls are built to absorb impact with minimal bounce, but lighter and heavier options suit different movements.
Slam balls for floor work
Lighter weights, referred to as slam balls, are mainly used for slams and throws into the floor. They can also be used for weighted squats, lunges, step-ups and sit-ups.
Dead balls for heavier training
Heavier weights, referred to as dead balls, are mainly used for lifting, carrying and strongman-style training.
- Choose a slam ball for repeated floor impact and a dead ball for heavier lifts and carries.
- Match the weight and dimensions to your ability to pick up and control the ball.
- Read the surface, impact and care instructions before planning the station.
Make room for the full movement
Allow space for the ball and the person using it throughout a slam, lift or carry. Keep other equipment and people clear of the area. In a shared space, choose a spread of weights around the planned sessions rather than only the maximum available load.
Frequently asked questions
Can every dead ball be slammed?
No. Slam balls are made for repeated impact. Check the individual product’s intended use and instructions before applying repeated impact to a dead ball.
Does a slam ball bounce?
They’re built to absorb impact with minimal bounce, but rebound still depends on the product and surface. Read the listing and keep a clear training area.
Should I choose the same weight for carries and slams?
Not necessarily. The handling and pace of the exercises differ. Choose a load appropriate to the complete movement and the sets you intend to perform.
